Canvas is a first-of-its kind iOS application making it easy to capture a scale-accurate 3D model of your home in minutes — all on an iPad. Canvas lets you create professional-grade, layered CAD models of your home that can be used with programs like SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Revit.
Using Occipital’s Structure (which is a 3D-scanning and depth-sensing camera equipped with an infrared transmitter and sensor, that clips onto the top of the iPad and plugs into its Lightning port), you can quickly create 3D scans of anything from entire rooms and environments to objects you’d like to 3D-print.
This in combination with Canvas, lets you sweep across a room to create a raw 3D map of it instantly. The app guides you through a big scan, overlaying already-scanned areas with a paint-like filter to show you if you’ve missed a spot. When you finish capturing, you immediately see a raw 3D model of the scene in the app—and you can also see the distances between objects without having to use a tape measure at all.
