INFOGRAPHIC: THE GROWING IMPACT OF PREFABRICATION AROUND THE WORLD

[dropcap size=big]P[/dropcap]refabricated structures have come a long way since their beginnings. Many possible materials mean you can have almost any kind of project built in-factory before on-site assembly. In turn, developers can construct buildings in much less time while saving money and reducing waste. The infographic below sheds some light on how prefab technology has taken off around the world highlighting both its impact and potential within different regions.

While most developers can benefit from construction that’s affordable, fast, and sustainable, these factors don’t have equal weight around the world.

Africa, for example, is home to many markets ready for a modular boom more than anywhere else. There are many reasons to believe prefab could solve housing problems there that traditional building cannot (as highlighted in this article). Many nations currently face a skills gap in the construction industry, and prefabricated structures require almost no onsite labor. In-factory manufacturing makes them a reliable choice less prone to building errors. Furthermore, the lack of waste management infrastructure in many areas makes prefab an environmentally sustainable option.
