Lagos-based interior design firm, Gemona West Interiors recently completed design and renovation work for Union Bank which involved creating a lounge for the bank’s high net worth customers in branches across Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt.
The lounge, which took 2 months to complete, offers a warm, cozy space furnished with mid-century style seating set in a restrained dark/neutral colour palette. A prominent use of varying hues of grey/ash serve as a good compliment for the laminate wood flooring, while wall art introduces pops of accent colour to liven up the space. The seating and area rugs as well as decorative planters introduce varying degrees of texture to an other wise smoothly finished space, while ambient/mood lighting helps set the right tone.
All the elements work together to create a lounge that departs from the clinical formality that one would find in most banks, to a warm, slightly homely aesthetic that stills connects with its corporate origin.
