The Wave: A Sculptural Housing Complex by Henning Larsen Architects

Surrounded by Hills and ‘seated’ by the sea, is an admirably unique residential project by Henning Larsen Architects in Vejle,  Denmark.

Dubbed the wave, for its nature inspired form, the design takes advantage of its location, views and orientation to create a practical and distinctive piece of residential architecture that is now a landmark for the Danish city. The award winning design, employs materials that allow it to be a “constantly changing landscape element” as it reflects into the sea by day and takes a form similar to “illuminated multi coloured mountains” by night. Its orientation allows for cool sea breezes to flow right through the building, creating the best possible levels of thermal comfort, while offering grand views for residents within.

Its a nice idea, even if the visual translation is a bit literal, but regardless, the form remains elegant and inspiring.
