The Trouvai Lingerie Store Fit-Out in Lagos by Isio De La Vega Design Studio

The Trouvai Lingerie Store showcases an impressive use of space paired with unique design elements and materials to create an upmarket retail aesthetic that puts the focus on the product.

Designed and fitted out by Lagos-based Interior Designers, Isio De La Vega Design Studio (IDDS Interiors), the store is open and clutter-free, yet still able to display a fair amount of product and offer customers an enjoyable experience.

DESIGNER’S DESCRIPTION

TROUVAI is a commercial retail lingerie store for plus sized women. IDDS was approached to design and fit-out the store, which was the debut store of the brand in Nigeria. Preference had to be made for emotional design, storage, showcase and private changing areas, as well as a mini office.

The client’s major concern with the site she had, was size, and the possibility of fitting all requirements into such a space. We were advised to manage the available space as best we could, bearing in mind that an office space was a priority. And so we applied all preferences, and created the TROUVAI design brief.

During the design phase, we created a schematic design, showing furniture layout, zoning and customers’ walkthrough. During the execution phase, we remodeled the existing site, removing old, colored wainscoting and screeded all walls which were painted white prior to furniture installations. We changed the ceiling design to a dual-step, 3-Dimensional element with spotlights and introduced a modern centerpiece chandelier in clear crystals & gold in the main show room.

We designed and positioned each furniture piece to serve a core purpose. The receptionist’s desk to face the entrance so as to establish effective contact and communication with prospective customers once they stepped into the store. Other areas and their intended furniture pieces also bore the same considerations; like the mannequin display area, the product display racks and a consultation area in the middle of the room which were moveable and could be cleared for a more open-air feel. Lastly, the old parquet flooring were changed and replaced with a new, modern square tiles to fit the contemporary style that we aimed for.

The most interesting thing about this project was having to completely excavate the design after delivery and move it to a new space which was an architectural carcass. Despite the difference in measurements, our design team re-executed the project in 10days, right before the already set launch date of the Lingerie Store
