Rensource Energy office by cmDesign Atelier features a facade of decommissioned solar panels.

cmDesign Atelier recently completed the Rensource Energy Nigeria office in Lagos. The design features a facade of decommissioned solar panels embedded within a mesh screen that will ultimately, evolve into a green wall.

Project Description

Rensource Energy Nigeria is an alternative energy company operating across Nigeria. Our brief was to design and retro-fit a defunct Oceanic Bank Building to accommodate this new age company which boasts an 80% millennial workforce. In essence, the space we created would form the bases of their identity as a company.

The office space had to accommodate different sectors of the business, from the more casual space for the Engineers on the ground floor to the more corporate space for the Finance and Legal department on the first floor. ‘Hot-desking’ is fundamental to the company’s work policy and allows for an increased flexibility in how we approached the design.

The building is powered on the national grid and alternative energy charged from a series of solar panels located on the building’s roof. We used decommissioned solar panels on the building façade to act as a sunscreen but also literally represent what this new company does. On the interior, the bulk of the furniture was bespoke-made from recycled palette wood, which is a buy-product from Lagos vast port industry.
