Designed to be primarily, a Kindergarten and Nursery, the Quezon Day center by Yuusuke Karasawa Architects is quite intriguing.
The structure is based on a circle that is believed to be ” a shape with no beginning or end” as well as a unifying symbol of sorts. Made up of intertwining wooden “ribbons” each sweeping plane folds around itself, turning roofs to walls or bridges. Taking a radially symmetrical plan, the center defines a penetrable form which encloses a large multi purpose green space which allows it also function as communal center as well, catering to public and private gatherings as well as other informal events and activities within the community.
