Elegant fluidity in architectural design is not a particularly easy task to accomplish, however, in their design for the Niger International airport in Niamey, Bangkok based N-Architects display a mastery of it.
Their design seeks to represent a gateway to the Republic of Niger, displaying the modern development of the country while connecting them to the global community.
Here’s their description,
Niger international Airport is set to serve Niamey with both domestic and international terminals. The inspiration for the design team began with the origin of the aircraft propeller. This conceptual theme was developed into the modern form of the airport terminal, defining the identity of the project. The smooth and simple, yet modern design of the space extends to its use and functions. The terminals have 16 contact stands and 6 remote stand, including the piers future expansion plan. The module of aircraft parking and gates are double sided piers.
All modern systems have been brought to use in this project. The latest model of Aerobridge, the common hold rooms, including the usable area of 120,000 square meters, all meet the requirements of the passengers perfectly. With a height of 35 meters, the building even provides an indoor park to convey a welcoming feeling to the visiting and departing passengers. This unique design not only serves the requirements of the users, but also works to reduce the tension and haste of the passengers. The modern propeller shaped international airport of the Republic of Niger is the piece of architecture to remain in the memory of visitors forever.
