Garisan: A Tropical Residential Development in Malaysia by O2 Design Atelier

The Garisan is a 12-unit terrace housing project set within an acre of lush green landscape in the town of Puchong, Selangor.

Designed by Malaysian architecture practice, O2 Design Atelier for property developer RiverTree Group, the units are inspired by the idea of light and shadows exemplifies contemporary tropical architecture, with open plan living, large floor-to-ceiling windows and a triple volume internal courtyard that ensures natural light and cross ventilation.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

[via o2 design atelier website]

The 2.5 storey terrace houses are built on a sloping land towards the rear. Internal spaces of the house are planned around a central triple volume courtyard naturally lit with landscapes. There is also a front courtyard with a vertical green wall separating the living room from the car porch plus a green terrace at the rear lower ground floor. External of the houses are articulated in 2 form variants expressing different built heights, colors and finish textures to break away the norm of extreme linearity in Malaysian terrace housing. Windows on the east-west facing facades are shaded with operable louvers with 2 different alternating mechanisms.
