dhk Architects Announced as Winners of Sol Plaatje University Architectural Competition

South African Architectural Practice dhk architects were recently named as one of two winners of the Sol Plaatje University Architectural Competition, together with another South African practice, Cohen and Garson Architects in first place.

The firm will be working with Cohen and Garson Architects on the development of the Sol Plaatje University North Campus over a three-year period. The competition’s challenging brief, required the architects to consider a comprehensive and sensitive approach to placemaking on a university campus, as well as integration within the city of Kimberley in SA. Their winning scheme continues the tradition of high-quality architecture the next phase of what is one of South Africa’s most significant post-democracy universities, as well as to continue to forge a path into the creation of progressive and impactful educational spaces.
