A Conceptual Hill-top Development in Ghana by Mobius Architecture Investigates a New Building Typology

As described by the architects, this challenge to create a relatively new building typology sought to interrogate the immediate linkages connected to this Site’s Location: The meandering route along the Peduase Hill that emerges in front of the Peduase Presidential Lodge; and continues along a major vehicular route (i.e., the Accra-Aburi Road).

The design which sits on a 30m x 21m (100ft X 70ft) parcel of Land slopes discreetly over almost a 3m gradient from its Eastern to Western boundary. This challenge allowed them to imagine an intriguing vista of contemporary lifestyle (art, fitness), retail and discreet Residential accommodation with articulated elements of “Clarity of Form” and “Simplicity”.

In response to an open-ended brief from the Client; who shares similar values of creating a piece of Architecture that espouses excellence and Intelligence; this design seeks to create a suggestion on how Hilltop Developments could be. The building uses three main elements- Off-Shutter Concrete, Wood and Glass.
