How this School in Lagos is Promoting Sustainability through Solar Power.

In the face of frequent power cuts and power supply challenges in Nigeria, this elementary school in Lagos has decided to generate its own electricity.

The recently completed school building for Abba’s Heart Montessori School is powered entirely by renewable energy with 224 rooftop-mounted solar panels generating 62kWp of solar energy along with ample battery storage ensuring 24 hour power supply. This off-grid approach helps to limit air and noise pollution typically caused by the use of power generators, while encouraging children and the larger community to value a sustainable future.

“One of the greatest lessons we have to teach our children in this day and age is how to make their environment a better and safer place.”

Bukola Oluwalade, Principal, Abba’s Heart School
