The Bright, Bold and Contemporary Madrona House in Seattle by Stephenson Design Collective

This is a clean, bold and ‘boxy’ home in Seattle designed by a Seattle based firm known as the Stephenson Design Collective.

Dubbed “The Madrona House” the home is roughly about 230 sq m and designed for a young and creative family. Made of concrete forms, metal and glass, this modern home is an ode to sleek forms and clean surfaces. One prominent aspect of the home is the abundance of natural light which is apparently a rarety in Seattle.

This is evident in the foyer which is a hall of floor-to-ceiling windows adorned by a striking natural wood staircase with clear glass railings. The kitchen also employs horizontal windows under the cabinets and makes use of skylights to maximize natural light over the island and dining table. A frosted screen separates the bathroom from the bedroom to create privacy while allowing natural light to flow between the two spaces. More light is brought into the master suite through a window in the walk-in shower.
