Open House Lagos 2018 Tour – Explore the JOI House in Ikoyi, Lagos designed by Chuka Ihonor

Explore the JOI House in Parkview Estate Ikoyi, Lagos designed by Nigerian Architect Chuka Ihonor.

About the JOI House Parkview 1988/1991

In 1925, legendary architect Le Corbusier unveiled the Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris. The pavilion was originally designed as a maisonette (apartment) within his earlier 1922 studies for high rise residential blocks.

In 1988, Chuka Ihonor designed an apartment block for Barcelona Spain of which one unit was built in 1991 as the JOI House in Parkview Estate Ikoyi. It stands as a modest Modernist home on a square footprint of 10.8m by 10.8m on a small plot with a small garden. The architect, Chuka Ihonor , would later found ARG Studio. The building is a lesson in design of Modernist space and shares a plot with another, larger building.

The tour will be taking place on Saturday 26 August 2018 in Parkview Estate in Ikoyi by 11am and 1pm. To be a part of the experience, please register here.
