Nigerian Interior Designer, Dwellion Design, took a bold approach in the design of this black and white living room. The approach combined contrasting elements and colours to create a well-balanced cosy living room with an air of masculinity.
The living room covers a large area flowing seamlessly into an open-plan kitchen and a small bar. The opposite walls of the sitting area have both dark finishes. The wall behind the sofa has a black textured paint finish. The opposite wall facing the sofa is covered with a black fluted panel and a floating TV unit with dark wood finish. The TV unit extends across the length of the wall, balancing it.
The main seating is a modern black sectional sofa paired with a contrasting cream-coloured armchair with black metal frames. Side tables with a similar aesthetic as the textured black wall and the armchair complement the sofa. A large grey patterned rug and a black geometric coffee table are placed in the middle of the seating.
In the kitchen, the use of dark elements continues just like in the living room. The upper cabinets are black and fluted. While the lower cabinets use the same dark wood finish as the floating TV unit in the living room.
The designers introduced an island that comfortably seats four people, along with additional storage. The dining chairs are modern and a shade of grey. They complement the white and black colour of the island. The bar area, just like the open kitchen features black fluted upper cabinets with rust-coloured bar stools.
