The Nest Chair By Porky Hefer

The Nest chair by South African designer Porky Hefer, is, as the name implies, a veritable nest made from interwoven strands of plant stalks around a steel frame.

It is, as one would expect, based on the concept of mimicking birds as they appropriate existing structures either man made or natural and weave their nests over them to create a place for them to live or ‘sit’ as the case were. The nest chair is part of a larger collection of “nests” created by Mr.Hefer which feature some surprisingly creative and quirky pieces based on the same or a similar concept.
