AKPOTI (which I think means “stool” in Yoruba) is yet another piece of creative furniture design from Nifemi Marcus Bello, the man behind the Kofe club collection as well as the tebur desk.
Akpoti, designed in collaboration with Kunle Adeyemi’s NLE works, is simple in its form with clean, straight lines and solid appearance, thanks in part to both its geometry and choice of material. As he describes it, “AKPOTI, (part of the Afaraline by NLÉ Works) is a multifunctional piece of furniture that can be used as a side table, seating stool and storage. The furniture design language accentuates the unique physical appearance of the wood as a raw and robust natural material but at the same time keeps it neutral and restrained.“
The piece is designed to cater to smaller more flexible spaces, and be as unobtrusive as possible, a creative response of sorts, to the rising cost of accommodation. The intent was to create a piece of furniture that could enhance living conditions and improve daily life.
