Inside the Blossom: A modern 3 bedroom + 1B.Q. Terrace Duplex.

What do you do with 228sqm of space, a love for zazzy serenity and a penchant for free unrestrained interconnectivity of spaces?

You let your creativity blossom!

This is exactly what we did in the first Scheme (DS1) of our BLOSSOM Series. To start with, the Blossom series itself has little match when it comes to stretching the limits of creativity, introducing a visual suspense to a space and yet, still allowing the space feel so close to home. The Scheme 1 of the series has a particularly sublime nature to it, so much so that we must confess our design team has outdone themselves yet again.

The spaces in this 3 bedroom + 1 BQ Home were cleverly designed to flow into each other seamlessly, in a way that would feel open. This continuity is experienced from the larger elements (such as walls and furniture) down to the very little things (like throw pillows or picture frame colours). It’s brilliant! The minimalism in the design is evident, especially in the positioning of the staircase (away from the main living area) and the genius introduction of a mini-study area right next to the stairwell, giving the homeowner much needed privacy for home-office work.

Stepping into this unit from the entrance porch, the cozy anteroom welcomes you into the airy living and dining which in turn leads into an adequately-sized U-shaped kitchen with an attached store. This carefully created design is a dream home for the middle and upper class.

On the Ground Floor, the white walls complement the glazed floor tiles used generously in all spaces – the living room, dining and circulation areas. This adapts to the needs of the user and enhances the creation of a more personal atmosphere subsequently.

These First Floor Plan views showcase the mix of textures within the spaces – wood (furniture), glazed tiles (floor) and plush rugs (floor), all various elements that combine to make the house a Home.

The first port of call on the two levels – the anteroom on the left (ground floor) and the family lounge on the right (first floor) are warm and embracing especially with the dash of potted plants at each level. The anteroom went for a bold look with the geometric-patterned floor rug.

The picture frames and paintings on the off-white walls, the white POP band framing the TV and simplistic console beneath it make the living room and dining a refreshing and great entertainment/fun place. The set of grey sofas is contrasted beautifully with throw pillows and a plush colourful center rug.

The use of grey tones combined with natural wood colour in the Living room and Dining enhances the feeling of tranquility within the Home. Pockets of niches for study(beneath the stairway), storage and display observed in different sections of the space is finished and shelved with wood and the effect is warm and subtle.

This orange kitchen with plain fronted cabinet doors and white kickboards looks great especially when the backsplash is muted grey. The island at the center with high backed stools has the right minimalist look to make this a modern and chic kitchen.

This ‘blue (cool)’ master bedroom is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of life.  The blue sheets and pillowcases, the warm wood tones of the bed frames, side drawers, hanging wall units, TV console and wardrobe, all make for a truly relaxing and serene atmosphere!

There is always need for storage places to help keep things tidy and to keep clutter at bay.  The master closet and toilet shown in the views above are replete with great storage ideas – the niche just by the bedroom door, the wash hand basin with vanity top and cabinet below, wall “cubbies” for storage and lots more.
